The 2021 Ford Explorer Will Receive Three New Trim Levels
For consumers looking for a new mid-size SUV, the 2021 Ford Explorer makes the perfect family vehicle for road trips and other recreational activities. Recently, Ford announced that it’s adding three new trim levels in an effort to keep the Ford Explorer modern and equipped with all the latest technology and safety features. The three trim levels include a lower-priced Enthusiast ST, rear-wheel-drive Explorer Platinum, and a high-end Platinum Hybrid. Each trim level will appeal to the unique driving needs and lifestyles of different consumers offered in authentic Ford styling and performance.
New Enthusiast ST Trim
The Enthusiast ST trim is introduced by Ford to be the new Standard Equipment Group within the ST model and features the same exterior looks and performance of the Explorer ST starting at a base price of $49,995 (plus destination fee). It will have a custom-tuned 3.0 L EcoBoost V6 engine rated at 400hp and 414 lb-ft of torque paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission with a sport-tuned suspension setup. According to Ford, the Enthusiast ST’s engine is capable of a top speed of 143mph, and buyers who opt for the Class III Trailer Two Package will be able to haul up to 5,600 lbs, which makes this new trim level a great value for the money.
Other features of the Enthusiast ST trim include leather seating upholstery with silver accent stitching along with the ST logo. The center dash will be equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and a heating steering wheel for cold climates. Ford has also included its signature Co-Pilot360 driver-assistance technology that includes blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, hill start assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Enthusiast ST’s exterior evokes a prominent sporty look with quad chrome exhaust tips, 20-inch machine aluminum wheels, and side-view mirrors integrated with LED turning signal indicators.
New Platinum Trim
New for 2021 is a 3.0 L RWD Platinum trim that will provide a better value to customers offering the right equipment at a reasonable price. The RWD Platinum trim is the most luxurious model in comparison to the rest of the new trims and features door handles with satin aluminum inserts, roof-rack side rails, a satin-aluminum front grille, a twin-panel moonroof, leather seats, and an all-leather steering wheel.
New Platinum Hybrid Trim
For the first time ever, the Ford Explorer Platinum trim will be available as a hybrid option with a starting base price of $53,085 (plus destination fee). Buyers will now be able to enjoy the benefits of increased fuel efficiency and long-range driving with a full hybrid-electric powertrain that is perfect for road trips, cross-country treks, and everyday city driving.
