2021 Ford F-150 Receives Upgraded Headlights and Improved Safety Rating

The F-150 is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick for other reasons, such as earning a “Good” rating in all six crashworthiness tests. However, the F-150 falls short of the “Top Safety Pick +” award because the IIHS requires headlights that have “Good” or “Acceptable” ratings to be standard on all trims, which they are not on the 2021 F-150.
Improved Headlight Rating
Specifically, the award is only for F-150 pickup trucks built after June of this year that come equipped with adaptive LED projector headlights, which received a “Good” rating, or the LED reflector headlights, which were rated as “Acceptable.” Potential buyers of a new F-150 can be more confident that their truck is safer and more capable, especially when driving on the highway or remote roads at night.
