2023 Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 Highlights

Ford’s Mustang Mach-E model is the automaker’s first fully-electric crossover, initially released in 2021. Despite the initial controversy surrounding the use of the Mustang nameplate–and whether the all-electric model was worthy of the badge. These days, the Mustang Mach-E is a bonafide best-seller in a burgeoning electric market. The model itself features a versatile lineup of trims, including the highly-lauded California Route 1–a middle-of-the-road trim. Comparable to the Kia Niro EV, Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y, and Hyundai Ioniq 5, the 2023 Mustang Mach-E comes with plenty of standard and desirable features.
California Route 1
The 2023 Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 comes standard with all-wheel drive courtesy of two electric motors–one on each axle. As a mid-range trim, the California Route 1 finds itself one rung below the top-tier, high-performance GT and GT Performance edition packages. Impressive in its own right, the Mach-E California Route 1 can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds at a top speed of 114 mph, all thanks to the 346 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to handling, the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 is an impressive crossover, nimble in its handling, thanks to its adaptive dampers and various drive modes for optimal performance no matter the road conditions.
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 doesn’t just shine when it comes to performance; it also boasts an extended range as standard. Buyers of the entry-level Mach-E enjoy a 70.0-kWh battery pack that yields 224 miles. At the same time, the California Route 1 comes standard with a 91.0-kWh battery pack with a capacity up to 312 miles–often directly beating rivals.On the inside, the Mach-E California Route 1 doesn’t miss a beat thanks to standard features such as Ford’s Black Onyx ActiveX synthetic upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster screen, memory settings for the driver’s seat, power folding mirrors, a 15.5-inch portrait-mounted infotainment touchscreen display.
Much like the rest of the EV segment, the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 sports a minimalist outlook made up of feel-good materials. Faux leather, bouncy rubber, and suede cloth can be found throughout the cabin. Audiophiles will love the California Route 1’s 10-speaker B&O sound system and panoramic fixed-glass roof for improved acoustics. The unique trim also gets a few personalized styling cues, such as California Route 1 badging, special exterior off-color wheel lip moldings, and trim-exclusive 18-inch rims.
Thanks to the panoramic roof, the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 offers passengers even more headroom than the standard trim. There are plenty of storage areas allocated throughout the cabin, including a folding center armrest with a deep storage bin, a 29 cubic-foot trunk cargo area (60 cubic-feet when the rear seats are folded down), and a water-resistant 4.7 cubic-foot trunk. Buyers can also count on many standard advanced safety tech features such as post-impact braking, blind-spot monitoring with lane keeping assist and cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, reverse brake assist, and evasive steering assist.
