The Ford Mustang’s name speaks for itself, already an icon of the automotive industry. While we’ve had the pleasure of knowing the Ford Mustang for over 60 years, there’s a new kid on the block–the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Now that electric power is taking over, Ford is pouring its resources into the Mach-E

An electric crossover introduced in 2020, the Ford Mustang Mach-E hit the streets during the 2021 model year. The introduction of the Mach-E marks the first time the iconic Mustang nameplate graced any other vehicle than the famed two-door pony car. These days, an electric SUV wears a partial Mustang badge, and enthusiasts initially had a milquetoast reception to the new model. Once enthusiasts really understood that the Mach-E did not show up to replace the Mustang, but to exist alongside it, the model took off. Several times throughout the course of the past few years, Ford has been forced to pause the Mustang Mach-E order books due to excessive demand combined with the ongoing supply chain issues.

Like many other electric crossovers, the Mustang Mach-E boasts an aerodynamic teardrop shape, improving the drag coefficient along with the overall range. Ford also added an exceptional front grille; borrowed directly from the Mustang, as well as a sloped roof for added headroom. For 2023, the only major change coming to the Mustang Mach-E lineup is the addition of the Nite Pony Package. The Nite Pony Package is Ford’s standard black exterior package, blacking out wheels, window trims, and other bits on the vehicle. Buyers can choose between four different trims, the Select, the Premium, the high-tier California Route 1, and the performance-oriented GT. Ford offers the 2023 Mustang Mach-E in single motor rear-wheel drive and dual motor all-wheel drive. Additionally, buyers can even choose between two different battery pack sizes for even more range.

When it comes to the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s powertrain, Ford is not skimpy with its options. The Select trim is only available with the smaller battery pack and can be paired with either rear- or all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel drive configuration yields 247 miles in range, while the all-wheel drive delivers 224 miles. Both configurations of the Mustang Mach-E make 266 horsepower, the only difference being that the all-wheel drive trades in range for added torque. The extended range battery, available on the Premium trim and above, gives buyers a top range of 306 miles. The all-wheel drive configuration of the Mustang Mach-E Premium and above do sacrifice some range in exchange for torque, rounding out at about 290 miles and 346 horsepower.

At the top of the lineup sits the Mustang Mach-E GT, whose specs deserve a closer look all on their own. The GT is dual-motor and all-wheel drive only, with up to 270 miles of range, 480 horsepower and up to 634 lb-ft of torque. Buyers will be impressed with the Mustang Mach-E GT’s 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds. The inside of the Mustang Mach-E features a small screen which replaces the instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel, while the middle of the dashboard features an attention-grabbing 15.5-inch central infotainment system. Powered by Ford’s latest SYNC4 infotainment software, the system includes Apple CarPlay and Google Android Capabilities, available navigation, over-the-air software updates, and an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.
