For 59 years, the Ford Mustang has consistently made a statement on the road, drawing attention with its iconic presence. As the Mustang gets ready to mark its 60th anniversary, Ford is injecting a fresh and dynamic twist into the beloved California Special trim.

“The original California Special package was geared toward California’s optimistic and carefree driving culture. We’re refocusing on those elements for the 2024 Mustang GT California Special, which brings vibrant style that looks as at home on Colorado Boulevard as it does on the Pacific Coast Highway. Rave Blue is such a distinct and exciting color, it really does make the California Special stand out not only from other Mustang models, but from previous California Special models,” said Mark Bellino, Ford Mustang Brand Manager.

The iconic hue adorns the nostril intakes, framing a new horizontal-slat grille embellished with sleek low-gloss black strakes. Distinctive black bezels encircle the headlights. Along the lower body sides, one can find Mustang GT California Special graphics in a stylish Medium Light Rave Blue, tastefully complemented by High- and Low-Gloss Black accents. When considering the California Special package, there’s a choice between two 19.0-inch wheel designs. The standard Carbonized Gray wheels display a GT/CS pad-printed logo in the striking Rave Blue, while the Performance Pack wheel option combines a machined face with pockets painted in the same vibrant Rave Blue hue.

The front fenders feature a 5.0-liter engine badge with Rave Blue outlines surrounding black centers, and the GT badge at the rear has a similar design. In line with this, a Performance Pack-specific badge is included, just like the one found in the GT Performance Package. Additionally, the GT/CS badge located in the grille is also accented with Rave Blue.

Inside the California Special

Prominent blue accents can be observed in the California Special package’s interior, featuring perforated Navy Pier upholstery and Ebony Black leather covering the seats. Enhancing the interior’s style is the inclusion of dual-color contrast stitching, combining Raptor Blue and Metal Gray threads that extend to the dash and doors. This distinctive stitching option is also available for the steering wheel and center console. Completing the interior updates are a California Special IP badge and GT/CS floor mats.

The California Special package increases the cost of a Mustang GT Premium by $1,995. It is offered for both Coupe and Convertible body styles and is compatible with either the six-speed manual gearbox or the optional 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 Mustang GT California Special will be unveiled to the public on November 16 at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. Order banks are now open, allowing customers to configure their own Mustang equipped with the California Special package via Ford’s official website.
