Ford Unveils 2024 Mustang GT4

The Mustang GT4 represents the latest addition to Ford’s esteemed lineup of motorsports endeavors, aptly named “Ford vs. Everyone” under the guidance of Jim Farlet, Ford’s President and CEO. This formidable racing machine is based on the all-new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, sharing its lineage with the renowned Mustang GT3. With the introduction of the Mustang GT4, Ford solidified its continued presence in the highly competitive GT4 category sanctioned by SRO, a journey that began in 2017. This uninterrupted commitment reflects Ford’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of performance in the motorsports arena.
The introduction of the Mustang Dark Horse in 2022 paved the way for an extensive lineup of Mustang race cars set to debut this year (2023). Among these highly anticipated vehicles are the all-new Mustang GT4, the recently unveiled Mustang GT3, and the upcoming Mustang Dark Horse R, to name a few. These remarkable vehicles uphold the Mustang legacy as Ford’s most revered and accomplished nameplate, competing on prestigious tracks worldwide, from Daytona to Bathurst. The versatility of Mustang’s racing pedigree spans the spectrum, offering accessibility for professional GT racing, as well as thrilling experiences for consumer track days. The Mustang spirit is guaranteed to ignite race tracks everywhere.
With the introduction of the new Mustang GT4, Ford Performance strengthens its longstanding partnership with Multimatic, entrusted with the production of every Mustang GT4. Underlining Ford’s commitment to excellence, the race engines in the Mustang GT4 are derived from the Ford Coyote platform and have been meticulously developed in-house by Ford Performance. Furthermore, the assembly of these powerful V8 engines takes place at Ford’s state-of-the-art facility in Dearborn, Michigan.
“We’re proud to work with so many great partners on these race vehicle programs. It’s also special to be able to do all the engine work for the Mustang GT4 fully in-house. We’ve got a great team and I’m excited for Mustang fans to see the Mustang GT4 in action,” said Christian Hertrich, Motorsports Powertrain Manager, Ford Performance.
By leveraging its internal capabilities and partnering with industry leaders, Ford has crafted a lineup of Mustang race cars that epitomize the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and achieving success on the track.
