Future Ford Edge Promises a Hybrid Powertrain

There’s very little mystery surrounding the upcoming Ford Edge model given that the automaker has already confirmed some details. Besides obvious changes to its appearance, the coming Ford Edge will be the first to feature a hybrid powertrain. Additionally, the Ford Edge is also rumored to grow in size and offer seven-passenger capacity in an enlarged variant. One thing buyers interested in this vehicle should know is that it’s slated to debut in China before arriving in North America, so we’re poised to get a good look at the vehicle prior to its official launch.
Beneath its hood the next-generation Ford Edge will be powered by a turbocharged 2.-liter engine paired with an electric motor. Automotive experts believe the coming engine to be a hybrid version of the existing 2.0-liter EcoBoost I4. Obviously a battery is also expected, but as of now there are zero indications as to how large that battery will be or if Ford will offer different sizes to cater to varying range needs. The hybrid powertrain rumored to power the next-generation Ford Edge will apparently offer buyers up to 275 horsepower, giving it 25 more horsepower than the existing Edge. Additionally, Ford is rumored to also offer either standard or optional all-wheel drive as an Edge prototype with a “Hybrid AWD” badge has been spotted in the past.
2023 Ford Edge
The 2023 Ford Edge soldiers on in a crowded two-row midsize crossover segment with many desirable features. Thanks to the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine beneath the hood, the 2023 Ford Edge offers a comfortable ride and adequate performance. Ford offers a performance-oriented trim with the Ford Edge ST powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine. For 2023, the Ford Edge receives a few trim-oriented changes. The entry-level ST trim now offers an interior appearance package, as well as a perimeter alarm that’s now standard. SE and SEL trims now feature a standard Iconic Silver honeycomb grille with chrome surround, while the SEL trim (when equipped with the Convenience Package) also comes with Iconic Silver trim on the lamp bezels.
Comfortable as a commuter or a perfect road trip vehicle, the Edge and its two-row cabin are plenty spacious for four adults. Cabin materials are nicely chosen, while the entire interior design is both simple and understated and offers plenty of room for people and cargo. Buyers who really need cargo space will be glad to learn the Edge can accommodate just about anything with the rear seats folded down. Even though other competitors closely match the Ford Edge’s cargo room, the slightly roomier cabin, as well as the thoughtful storage cubbies Ford provides, can certainly help deal the deal.
