2021 Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Road Edition

 

Ford takes the 2022 Expedition Timberline Edition up a level by introducing the Off-Grid Edition designed for the ultimate off-roading and camping experience. The SUV debuted at the  2021 Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia, which caught the eye of many spectators. To be specific, the Off-Grid Edition is essentially the cherry on top of the cake. It is a more capable and versatile off-road package that sits on top of the already impressive Timberline Edition. It is an immediate eye-catcher with its two-tone exterior paint and “map work” all around. For outdoor enthusiasts and off-road junkies, the new Expedition is the perfect full-size off-road SUV ideal for a family vacation or camping trip.  

The “Off-Grid” Edition

The Off-Grid Edition receives an extra 2-inches of ground clearance on top of the already 10.6-inches it has on the Timberline Edition. It also gains 2.5-inch shocks from Fox Performance and dual-speed compression adjusters (with remote reservoirs in the front and the rear). Instead of keeping the 33-inch tires on the Timberline Edition, Ford decided to add 35-inch all-terrain tires from General Grabber to enhance off-road capability. Since the Off-Grid Edition has a tall ride height, Ford also adds Rock Rail Hoop Steps that make getting on and off the SUV much easier.

  • Thule Tepui Explorer Tent – Able to be strapped to the roof and utilized for sleeping inside (arrives with a retractable ladder)

  • Wild Land Portable Privacy Room Shower – Made out of durable tent material, it comes in a carry bag and, once set up, offers 5’ x 5’ of floor space and stands 7’ tall.
  • Auxiliary Lighting – Includes multiple vehicle lighting systems such as LED foglights, a 50-inch LED bar on the roof, a 20-inch LED bar under the front grille, and dual D-SS Rigid Cube LED Lights on the hood.  

Interior and Vehicle Specifications

For the interior, the back seat area makes room for two Luno Camping mattresses ideal for two people, an EZ STAK aluminum storage unit, window shades, and a portable USB fan. The Off-Grid Edition also comes equipped with a Turtleback Expedition Series Trailer that shares the same exterior color combination as the SUV and the same tires. Inside the trailer are a two-burner propane stove, a deep-well sink, a 42-gallon water tank, a six-gallon water heater (with external shower hookup), and drop-down tables. Powering all these camping essentials is a Clarios AGM battery that provides ample voltage at a safe capacity.
