Vertical Infotainment Screen Coming to the 2024 Ford F-150

It’s been widely reported that the Ford F-150 model is due for a refresh in 2023 for the 2024 model year. Few prototypes of the F-150 have been spotted in the lead-up to the latest F-150 development. As spy photographers begin to spot the upcoming F-150 prototypes more and more, and often clad in less camouflage than before, the public can make more assumptions about the revamped model in the works. For the first time ever, there’s a clear view of the new taillight design coming our way. Additionally, there are other rumors that the best-selling pickup will feature a revised interior cabin, including a new vertical infotainment screen.
Currently, the F-150 features horizontally-oriented touchscreens that vary between 8- and 12-inches. It is presently unclear if the larger, vertically-oriented touchscreens are borrowed from Ford’s existing lineup like that which debuted in the 2021 Ford Edge and Ford Ranger models, or from the 15.5-inch screen that’s in use in the Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and Expedition. Granted, all these models which feature the larger touchscreen also make use of the automaker’s latest version of Sync 4A–something the upcoming F-150 will likely feature as well.
Regardless, the upcoming F-150 seems to mirror the recently redesigned Ford Ranger. It mimics its use of a larger, vertically-oriented infotainment screen. The very same screen is positioned much lower in the F-150 Lightning, so consumers can expect more of the same from the 2024 F-150. Some publications that have gotten a better look at the prototypes also allege Ford added a row of buttons on top of the screen that’ll likely be used to control such features like camera settings and traction control, similar to the current F-150. The main difference between the existing buttons and those seen on the prototype is that the buttons on the latter appear to be enclosed within the same housing as the touchscreen.
Besides the major revision that’s expected, the 2024 Ford F-150 should also see some changes to the exterior styling as well. Not only will the revamp include changes to the taillight like we mentioned earlier, there will possibly be a new multifunction tailgate. As far as spy photographers are concerned, the upcoming 2024 F-150 does not appear to be that significantly different from the current pickup–at least on the outside.
2023 Ford F-150: What’s New?
For 2023 Ford added the off-road-oriented Rattler trim to the F-150 lineup. The Rattler trim is based on the existing XL FX4 trim and adds a dual-exhaust system, a locking rear differential, 18-inch wheels, hill-descent control, and an off-road suspension system. There are rattlesnake inspired logos throughout the design of the Rattler as well. Given its position in the F-150 lineup, the Rattler trim is perfect for buyers who are looking to tackle rough and rugged terrain without being obligated to buy the top-tier Tremor or Raptor trims.
