Why the Ford Edge is One of the Best SUVs on the Market

The 2022 Ford Edge has been riding high ever since Consumer Reports deemed the model a superior option to some of its strongest competition. Additionally, the Ford Edge is often found on lists that deem it one of the best SUVs available for under $35,000. In terms of brand loyalty, the 2022 Ford Edge was ranked the top vehicle in the U.S. in May of 2022. Recently, Consumer Reports lauded the midsize SUV for its reliability and fuel efficiency figures.
To earn a spot on this latest list, vehicles need to adhere to the following rules: Consumer Reports puts midsize crossovers and SUVs that get 21 miles-per-gallon or better to earn a spot on the reliability and fuel efficiency list. The models who make the list need to also boast more than average reliability ratings as well. Additionally, any vehicle which makes the list needs to offer an array of standard advanced safety features and perform well on numerous crash tests.
In that regard, the Ford Edge came out on top with an overall score of 80 and was deemed a “pleasant, well-rounded vehicle with agile handling and a steady ride” by Consumer Reports. Other highlighted positive attributes of the model include its quiet cabin and the wide array of standard advanced safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind-Spot Warning, and Forward Collision Warning. Following the 2023 model year, the Ford Edge is riding off to the sunset, but Ford still offered numerous updates for the upcoming model year. There’s the addition of standard ActiveX seating on the Titanium trim and the introduction of a new ST Interior Appearance Package. On the other hand, Ford did away with all Outfitters cargo packages on the Edge model and the SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad.
2022 Ford Edge Highlights
Ford expanded its 2022 Edge lineup to include an optional Black Appearance Package that adds 19-inch black wheels as well as many other black exterior accents and badges. On the SEL trim, Ford added an optional Adventure Package which outfits the Edge with 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, gray and black exterior accents, and faux-leather upholstery. The shades Flight Blue and Forged Green joined the Edge lineup, while the ST trim offers a boosted V6 engine for even more horsepower. All Ford Edge models, regardless of trim, come standard with Ford’s latest Sync 4A infotainment system and a 12-inch touchscreen display. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and work via a wireless connection. Ford even offers a Wi-Fi hotspot on all Edge trims, while in-dash navigation is an optional upgrade.
