Ford Reveals More Details About the Mustang Dark Horse
Ford revealed additional details about the upcoming 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, including the unveiling of a distinctive color collection, as well as materials to amplify the vehicle in the digital age. The biggest surprises are within the model’s cabin, with its all-new anodized blue, lightweight titanium manual shift knob, or anodized silver paddle shifters for customers who opted for a 10-Speed SelectShift automatic transmission. There’s also a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in performance suede for an improved grip, while contrasting Bright Indigo Blue stitching across the instrument door panels, seats, center console, and more enhance the cabin’s harmony.
“The sinister and track-hungry attitude of Mustang Dark Horse inspired us to curate colors and materials in a way that underscores the vehicle’s athleticism. We spent extra time on the cockpit, ensuring the look, feel and function of everything a performance driver could want conveys the performance Mustang Dark Horse is capable of,” said Carrie Kennerly, Ford Senior Color and Materials Designer.
Customers who want to make their Mustang Dark Horse even sportier will now have the option to include the available Mustang Dark Horse Appearance Package which includes specially-bolstered RECARO performance seats in Deep Indigo Blue, as well as Black Dinamica suede for an improved grip. Rounding out the blue theme are Deep Indigo Blue seatbelts, as well as distinctive seat perforations with blue accents. The Mustang Dark Horse design team also introduced all-new color and trim surface selections, now including Black Alley bezels and vents, giving the cabin a dark metallic gloss while doing away with familiar silver shades found throughout the Mustang lineup.
As straightforward digitized simplicity becomes more common in cars, the contemporary Mustang Dark Horse has evolved with the times and now features more forward-thinking and tech-inspired interior textures. Ford uses lasers to create the texture and grain atop the instrument panel, thus reducing the overall amount of glossy, reflective surfaces, as well as to convey a more technical aesthetic. All leather and vinyl-wrapped components are adorned with a luxury grain texture focused on amplifying the vehicle’s performance feel. Every Mustang Dark Horse model comes standard with an instrument panel badge that features the vehicle’s chassis number.
2024 Mustang Dark Horse
The most powerful Mustang ever, the Mustang Dark Horse, is nothing to joke about. Expanding the pony car lineup and setting a new benchmark for performance, the all-new specially modified Mustang Dark Horse is powered by the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine to the tune of 500 horsepower. Ford engineers worked on the project for over three years, designing a Mustang with striking visual cues that resulted in the first performance Mustang since the Mustang Bullitt was introduced in 2001.
“For decades, Mustang has competed against the most premium brands on the greatest stages and won. We surprised everyone, and we’re going to surprise them again with a track-capable Mustang that puts a new level of performance, styling, and American engineering in the hands of everyday customers who still want the thrill and excitement of a V8 sports car,” said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company.
